Ideation and Brainstorming

CONCEPT DESIGN...I DO NOT OWN THE ORIGINAL PHOTOS OF FLOWEROVLOVE

flowerovlove...concept design

I’ve been following flowerovlove’s journey for a while after discovering her song, breaking news, on YouTube. From then on, I’ve avidly tuned in to listen to her various singles until the most recent release of her 1st album, Mini Skirt Warrior.

I loved the project and as a fan, I really wanted to make a concept design for the album.

Research findings:

A consistent use of yellows, pinks, and blues.

Simplistic photoshoots for the most part.

Her mary janes heels are a focus of her branding and album rollout.

Youthful, whimsical, and fun

Side Comments/Thoughts while Designing

Side Comments
It was hard deciding the direction as I had to take into consideration her current album’s creative direction and her general branding.

I wanted the designs to feel like something she would actually put out, but also not too closely aligned with the current album’s visuals.

And as this is a concept design, I was limited to the already available flowerovlove photos which presented a challenge when it came to constructing the final visuals

Thoughts While Designing
Should I keep the glow or is it too cheesy?

To polka dot or to not polka dot?

I feel like adding sparkles would add to the whimical vibe of the piece. Sparkles = flowerovlove, I dont make the rules.

Don’t over do it, Z. Stick to simplicity.

Yellow? Green?

Can you see the text properly?

Final Design Visuals

playful, simplistic, a good balance of color

The goal was to create something  playful and eye-catching that encapsulates the  branding, essence, and current artistic journey of flowerovlove.

To me, her music reminds me of firsts. First partner. First heartache. First, in her words, bad b love story (shout out to the song, I’m Your First).

I wanted to capture that youthful journey in the visuals through the use of the bright blues and polka dots.
