Ideation and Brainstorming

Genre Shirts....

I wanted to create a shirt.
Its as simple as that.

I wanted to create something that I would love for many years. Moreover, I wanted to physically hold my work as I believe that its important that one see their work in the physical space.

Research findings:

Played around with different colors for the shirts with the end goal of having a shirt with the brightest eye-catching text. I wanted something would stand the test of time and become like band shirt in the future.

Side Comments/Thoughts while Designing

Side Comments
It was hard deciding the colors. I wanted the text to be super bright and eye-catching and since some neon color dyes/paints can be hard to source and find, this posed a slight challenge.

After some chats with the amazing team at Danger Press in Atlanta, we were able to chose a dye that fit my needs.

This project was a great learning experience for me as I was able to take an apparel design from concept to production.

Next time, I would like to do this with a key a visual/illustration instead of just type

Thoughts While DesigningWhite or black shirts? Which one would allow the colored text to best stand out?

Maybe a cream and a bright blue would work?

Do people tend to prefer to have a white or black shirt in their closet?

Does the design and color choice appeal to all audiences?

Does the shirt read as uni-sex?

Would it be better to have a slim or more boxy, oversized fit?

Final Design Visuals

playful, chaotic, youthful

1.Genre Shirts
The goal was to create a shirt that would appeal to a variety of different types of people while also encouraging them to engage with and pursue the arts.

I wanted the shirts to carry a  positive message of loving the arts and creating art spaces and communities for a new generation.
